Green Building

The town's code of ordinances establishes a green building program for public, residential, commercial, office, and industrial buildings. It requires Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for new public buildings over 5,000 square feet and renovations exceeding $200,000 (§4-105.3.c). Residential, commercial, office, and industrial buildings must receive LEED certification to be eligible for program incentives (§4-105.a,b). The town's green building program incentives include expedited permitting, development approval assistance, green building designation, and financial grants and tax abatements (§4-105.4).
