Green Building

The city’s code of ordinances outlines a voluntary green building program with construction based and planned development incentives. Construction based incentives include a permit fee reduction based on Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) certification level (Certified, Bronze, Silver, and Gold) or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification level (Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum) and an expedited development review (§26-1105). Planned development incentives include expedited permitting, reduced parking ratios, and a planning review fee reduction and floor area ratio (FAR) density bonus based on FGBC and LEED certification levels (§26-1106). The city’s green building program also provides education and training opportunities (§26-1108).
