Green Building

The village's code of ordinances requires new public buildings, and provides incentives for private buildings to, receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The level of LEED certification is determined by the Green Building Official and village manager based on cost-effectiveness and available funding (§6-232). Incentives include expedited permitting and review and permit fee rebate based on LEED certification level (Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum) (§6-233).
