Green Building

The city’s code of ordinances establishes an Energy Economic Zone Pilot Program, or Sustainable Energy Economic District (SEED), which promotes green building certification and energy efficiency standards. It outlines eligibility requirements for businesses including location within the district, green business certification, meeting energy efficiency standards, and creation of green jobs (§38-305). In addition to Energy Start certification, the city’s green building program requires Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or Florida Green Building certification (§38-306).
