The city’s codified ordinances set historic designation and design review processes (Chapter 18.255). A certificate of appropriateness is required for minor and major projects and projects requiring demolition of all or part of a historic structure or structure in a historic district. The regulation also allows the Topeka landmarks commission to work with the Shawnee County commission on historic preservation designation projects or guideline development.
