Historic Preservation

The city-county’s codified ordinances create the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Historic Landmarks and Preservation Districts Commission assigned with designation and design review responsibilities (§32.250-263). It also establishes an Architectural Review Committee for each historic preservation district, responsible for reviewing local applications. It outlines when a certificate of appropriateness is required and gives the Department of Codes and Regulations or the Department of Public Works and Assets the power to inspect construction to assure compliance.
