Historic Preservation

The city’s codified ordinances establish a Historic Preservation Commission, historic designation and design review processes, and a Historic and Landmarks Overlay Zone (§180-1 to 180-32). Before applying for a certificate of appropriateness, applicants are allowed an informal review to ensure compliance with set standards. Penalties for violation of development or maintenance standards are included (§180-25).
