The town’s zoning bylaw encourages the use of low-impact development (LID) tactics for stormwater management in street design, parking design, and development in a Downtown District (“DTD”) and Marine Center Overlay District (“MCOD”). It encourages the use of rain gardens, bioswales, and pervious pavers as LID tactics in streetscapes (§2869-c) and LID tactics in parking lots for stormwater management (§4826-i) in the DTD. It requires the use of LID tactics including bio-retention systems, rain gardens, and bioswales where feasible in the MCOD (§4826-k). The zoning bylaw describes guidelines for the use of LID, including green roofs, in roof form and height (3.3) and site enhancements (3.4) in the DTD.
