Green Stormwater Infrastructure

The city’s code of ordinances encourages the use of low-impact development (LID) tactics for sidewalk planning, development design, landscape design, and conservation. It outlines development design standards for stormwater management which include the use of LID and green infrastructure tactics to minimize the ecological impacts to the environment (Article XVIII). The code of ordinances also allows the use of permeable pavement in sidewalk installation (§39-5.a), recognizes LID in a “retail overlay district” (§39-14.d.3), and identifies LID tactics as “common open space”, which are subject to parameters of use for subdivisions and commercial site developments (§11-14.h).
