This report highlights lessons learned from the Rebuild by Design (RBD) competition, which promoted innovative design approaches to rebuilding from the impacts of Hurricane Sandy. It describes the proposals, projects, legal and policy challenges, and lessons learned from six projects throughout New York and New Jersey. The report highlights the resiliency tactics utilized, including flood defenses, green infrastructure, and land-use approaches.
