Hazard Mitigation

The county’s comprehensive plan includes multiple hazard mitigation policy recommendations and a map of high-risk areas.  

Goal 5.4 establishes hazard mitigation as a priority. Specific policy recommendations address development location (5.4a), Boise River floodway management (5.4b), tributary floodways management (5.4c), foothill tributary floodways management (5.4d), 100-year floodplain management (5.4e), hazardous materials (5.4f), the wildland urban fire interface (5.4g), fire safety standards (5.4h). 

Goal 5.5 establishes community resiliency as a priority. Specific policy recommendations address integrated planning and decision making (5.5a), interagency coordination (5.5b), critical facilities protection (5.5c), infrastructure and facility design (5.5d), open space protection in high-risk areas (5.5e), and education and public awareness (5.5f). 

The high-risk areas map shows areas where risks associated with wildfires and flood and damage are significantly elevated.
