This article discusses the need for a resurgence of the principles of the Quiet Revolution that could positively affect environmental impacts in state planning for land-use. It explores land-use controls that limit the construction of green buildings, and argues for state control of land-use to usher in sustainable legislation. There is a response following this article that address the challenges and barriers to state control for sustainable reform and offers alternative solutions that are consistent with today’s political climate.
