This report discusses the widespread increase of extreme heat in the United States and the different implications of this hazard to diverse groups or communities, including urban and rural residents, low-income residents, and people exposed to other risks. Chapter 6 of this report explores solutions to help reduce the impacts of extreme heat events, such as investing in heat-smart infrastructure and advancing the country’s emissions reductions actions.
