This report highlights how parks can help reduce the effects of increased temperatures in urban areas. It found that areas within a 10-minute walk of parks can be as much as 6 degrees cooler than other areas. It also highlights disparities in access to parks as it found that parks in nonwhite and low-income neighborhoods tend to be smaller and serve more people than parks in majority-white neighborhoods.
