Urban Heat Resilience

The city’s comprehensive plan contains several strategies to address the effects of urban heat islands. Some of the actions include incorporating trees, vegetation, and pervious surfaces in parking areas to minimize heat (Policy 7.4.3.b), using heat-resilient pavement materials (Policy 13.1.3.1), and mitigating the heat island effect of urban development and coordinating emergency response to extreme heat events with other agencies (Policy 13.3.5).
