Youth in Planning

The Design Star program is an annual program between the City of Newberg, Oregon, and local schools for youth to learn about GIS and create their own site plans. GIS is used to explore what a city needs and wants and the impact of those decisions. Then students spend two weeks developing their own plan for vacant sites in town. Students present their plans to the City Council.
