Hazard Mitigation Policy Guide
By American Planning Association National
The worsening climate crisis has intensified the effects of disasters on communities — with minority and low-income communities feeling the impacts more deeply than others.
The policies embraced in APA's newly revised Hazard Mitigation Policy Guide position planners to champion a new approach to hazard mitigation, adaptation, and recovery thinking centered on equity and established research for resiliency standards, man-made disasters, and natural disasters.
This guide was approved by the APA Delegate Assembly on May 21, 2020, and ratified by the APA Board of Directors on July 16, 2020.
